"Romance": Bériot, ABRSM Violin
I played Romance by Charles-Auguste de Bériot for my grade 5 violin examination, and it felt like stepping into a dream. The piece begins so softly, almost like a whisper, with the piano cradling the violin’s delicate melody. As it unfolded, the music grew richer and more passionate. The shifts between soaring high notes and tender, quiet moments made it feel like an emotional rollercoaster. By the end, it drifted back to the same gentle feeling it started with.
